Indoor plants transform a room, but they need conditions that match their natural environment. Before buying new greenery, observe how sunlight moves through your space during the day.

Overwatering is the most common mistake. Most houseplants prefer soil that dries slightly between waterings. Use pots with drainage holes and check moisture with your finger before adding water.

Humidity matters especially in winter when heating dries the air. Group plants together, use a pebble tray, or mist leaves occasionally for tropical varieties.

Feed plants during active growth seasons with a balanced fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding in late fall and winter when growth naturally slows.

Regularly inspect leaves for pests and remove dead foliage promptly. Healthy plants are less vulnerable to insects and recover faster from minor stress.
